PAY IT FORWARD THIS CHRISTMAS
ABERDEENSHIRE NORTH FOODBANK
We have been very fortunate to play host to every conceivable type of festive get together and celebration this season, from large company parties, girly catch ups, lads nights and old friends home for the festivities, it's been an absolute joy to be part of.
But amongst all the merriment one particular type of gathering has caught my eye, family. We've had small, large, a few birthdays too and those special moments with mum and daughter taking a break from shopping for a hot chocolate or dad taking the kids for some pancakes after football at the weekend, and everything in between.
It is with that in mind that we got the seeds of an idea for what we'd like to do this Christmas, and we're going to need your help!
Every year we close Christmas Day and have always tried to use our time and resources to give something back, from cooking at social bite to on the day itself to donating all of the food for over 100 meals at 'The Love of Garioch' event in the town hall, Inverurie.
This year I am committed to spending time with family having lost someone very precious around this time of year but we'd still like to do something for others as that's really what it's all about, right? Giving?
This year we've decided to team up with our dear friend Shona Singer at Aberdeenshire North Foodbank with a view to giving anyone relying on the foodbank this year a little extra lift, a wee treat to look forward to. It's horrendous that anyone is facing difficult choices about eating or heating at any time of year but in conversation with Shona we hear that demand is rising at the same time donations are sadly falling...
Our pledge, on top of a donation to help with necessities, is to supply Gift Vouchers to be distributed by the Aberdeenshire North Foodbank, so that anyone can pop in for a wee treat in the new year, for a small birthday celebration maybe, a bit of breakfast or whatever it might be.
We are offering three levels for you, starting at just £10, which we will match effectively doubling the donation, not only that but should these not be handed out by the End of January we will fully exchange remaining vouchers for a cash donation to the foodbank so EVERY penny you donate WILL go to support someone in need this Christmas.
Finally, as a thank you for your donation today, we are offering £5 off your next visit in January on production of the receipt from this purchase.
I hope you can help us to give someone, a family, the opportunity to have a wee treat in the New Year, that they might otherwise have to miss out on.
All transactions will be visible to Shona Singer at the Foodbank for full accountability, the vouchers themselves will be identical to the ones we always do removing any potential stigma in their use.
I know it's difficult just now but it's a great opportunity to join forces and make some very special memories possible for those facing extended hardship. A gift above and beyond the necessities that will hopefully provide some much needed comfort and joy, without worrying about the cost.
